Welcome to Little Star Montessori School
Little Star sparks children's curiosity, compassion, and sense of community through joyful learning and discovery.
We provide outstanding early childhood education for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and kindergarteners in the Methow Valley. Spread across two campuses in Winthrop and Twisp, our programs support children, families, employers and the health of our community as a whole.
The biennial Little Star Benefit Auction is coming on May 18! This event only happens every other year, and raises critical operating and financial aid funds for students and families at Little Star. Tickets go on sale starting April 8. To donate an item, please follow the link and fill out the online form. Thank you!
Little Star Builds a Place for All Children
Our founder Rayma Hayes taught us to dream big, and this past year you dreamt big with us as we underwent our Little Star Builds Campaign. Together, we listened to the needs of our community and took bold steps to prioritize early childhood education and build partnerships on behalf of children and families. With your support we:
Doubled program capacity for children ages 0-6, adding the first-ever licensed infant care in the Methow.
Expanded our campus in Winthrop. The new Galaxy Building includes three classrooms, a kitchen, an active space and expanded administrative space.
Opened the Little Star South Collaborative in Twisp. Our new campus offers year-round infant and toddler programs and connects families with resources to help them thrive.
Built a $250,000 financial aid fund to ensure that tuition costs are not a barrier.
If you haven’t already, come visit us in Winthrop or Twisp to see the new spaces for our students, learn more about our expanded programs, or to simply pause and delight in the wonder of childhood.
“One of the gifts of the Montessori tradition is that we see who the kids are, what they’re interested in, what sparks them, what excites them, and we build on that. Because once you start building on their confidence, they can do anything.”
– Rayma Hayes, Founder
